"I
would recommend to any aspiring
writer that they send their
work to the Critique Service
and then be prepared for a truthful
evaluation. "

"I just got my
critique back from CWG, and it showed me a
lot of serious problems with the manuscript
I had not been exposed to before.
Thankfully, the critique was clear enough
that I have a good idea of what to do to
improve it. The critics are anonymous
to me, so please let them know that they are
doing a good job!"

to know how a team of writing professionals
sees your work? The Christian
Writers Guild Critique service is
your opportunity to hear the whole
truth. This no-holds-barred
review of your 1- to 5-page, 6- to
10-page, or 11- to 15-page manuscripts
will provide you with a blunt but
informative analysis of any prose,
fiction, or nonfiction sample you
select. (We're sorry, but at present
we don't have the staff to review
poetry, picture books, scripts, or
screenplays.)
We'll evaluate your work on the basis of five core
issues: Proper language usage, Pacing, Presentation,
Purpose, and Persuasiveness of the content.
We'll assess your strengths and shortcomings as a
writer as seen in the sample you send. And
we'll answer your most important question - about
the potential for your work to be published.
The critique is done in mutual anonymity - your name
will be removed from your sample prior to passing it
on to our Editorial Review Team, and you'll never
know the name of your reviewer. This allows
complete honesty from both sides and eliminates any
concern that the comments are somehow personal.
To begin the process, please send your work -- set in 12 point Times New Roman,
double-spaced -- as an
email attachment to
this address:
Critiqueservice@ChristianWritersGuild.com.
Be sure to include your name, street address, and
phone number in case we have any questions. If you choose to submit via e-mail, you can call us at (866) 495-5177 to pay with a credit card. Or
you can mail your sample along with a check made out
to the Christian Writers Guild, 5525 N. Union
Blvd., Suite 200, Colorado Springs, CO 80918.
The fees for the critique are:
NON-MEMBER MEMBER
1-5 pages (1,500 words
max)..........$30......................$27
6-10 pages (2,500 words
max)........$60......................$54
11-15 pages (3,500 words
max)......$90......................$81
In 4
to 6 weeks, your report will arrive
by first-class mail with more information
than you might ever have hoped for
(or wanted)! But trust us; what
you'll learn from the experience will
be invaluable. |
