ntil
now, writing may have been your hobby –
something you’ve enjoyed working at in
your spare time. But for your story to
come to life, for you to really touch
readers, you’ll first need to develop
and sharpen your skills.
When you enroll in our
“What’s Your Story?” Apprentice Level
course, you’re declaring you’re ready to
move beyond hobbyist to serious
professional.
This educational journey
will dramatically change how you
perceive yourself and how you evaluate
your world. Once you complete your
coursework, you’ll be equipped like few
others to communicate clearly and
powerfully from a Christian perspective.
Historically, guilds have
consisted of four levels:
Apprentice,
Journeyman, Craftsman, and Master
Craftsman. The two-year Apprentice Level
course begins with a 12-lesson
introduction in which your
mentor-by-E-mail walks you through the
basics.
Next comes a primer on types
of nonfiction articles you can write and
actually begin marketing during your
training. Then it’s on to book-length
nonfiction, specialized types of
writing, and finally fiction from short
story to novel.
Whether you’re interested in
poetry or prose, fiction or nonfiction,
you’ll hone your
skills and polish your
craft, working alongside one of the
Guild’s Master Craftsman.
When the course is complete,
you’ll have the opportunity to advance
to Journeyman status, where you’ll focus
on a more specific area of study. And
take the next step on your journey to
becoming a successful author. Finally,
you’ll advance to the pinnacle level
entitled Craftsman, for only the most
skilled and determined students in the
Christian Writers Guild.
