join us for meals and general sessions.
|
|

After the Thursday keynote session, you
may sign up for up to three 15-minute

Conference registration, meals,
appointments with editors and mentors, and
general sessions
will take place in the International Center.
All continuing classes and workshops will be in Colorado
Hall next to the International Center. |
|
| |
Always turn off your cell phones or set them to vibrate
during any conference session. |
|
| |
Meeting with Editors or Agents
|
|
| |
To prepare for meetings
with editors or agents, you may want to bring
article manuscripts,
first chapters, or book proposals in printed
as well as electronic form. You can make photocopies
and print from a disk at the Broadmoor business
center at your own expense.
Contact them for costs. (IT IS EXPENSIVE.)
If you have business
cards, bring them. |
|
| |
|
|
| |
Please make your own travel arrangements.
If you fly into Colorado Springs, The
Broadmoor has a shuttle service from the airport
for $30 round trip. You must call
in advance to reserve transportation at 1-800-634-7711.
(The Broadmoor has an information portal at the Colorado
Springs Airport.) Other ground transportation options
are available to get you from the airport. The trip to the Broadmoor from the Colorado Springs Airport takes about 20
minutes. |
|
| |
Denver
International Airport is 1 1/2 to 2 hours
away. Although the Broadmoor Hotel
does not provide shuttle service from Denver
there are many other options for ground
transportation.
|
|
| |
If you
will be driving, from I-25 take exit #138
(Circle Drive). Go
west on Circle Drive, which becomes Lake Avenue, approximately
2.6 miles to the Broadmoor Hotel. The Broadmoor has a daily parking fee of
$16 with complimentary valet or $14 if you
self-park. |
|
| |
Lodging
|
|
| |
Make
lodging arrangements directly with the Broadmoor
at (800) 634-7711. Take
a look at your room. Tell them you
are with the Guild conference to receive
these discounted room rates: |
|
| |
|
Room (single or double occupancy) |
$154
per night |
|
|
|
|
| |
To split
the lodging costs with another attendee, give
that person's name when you
reserve a double room. If you're coming alone
but want to share a room, call the Christian
Writers Guild at (866) 495-5177, and we'll
give you the names of others who
are looking for roommates. |
|
| |
Attire and Weather
|
|
| |
In keeping
with the five-star resort setting, please
plan to wear business casual attire (slacks or skirts, but no jeans) and
comfortable shoes. |
|
| |
Daytime temperatures
are typically in the 30s or 40s. Check the weather in Colorado Springs. The
elevation of Colorado Springs is more than
6,000 feet, so plan to pace your
physical activity at first and also drink
plenty of water. Enjoy
a view of Pikes Peak. |
|
| |
The Broadmoor property
is made up of several buildings surrounding
beautiful Cheyenne Lake.
Depending on the location of your room, you
may have a brief outdoor stroll
to the meeting area in the International Center.
Otherwise, you will be indoors
for the entire conference. Find
out more about Colorado Springs. |
|
| |
| |
 |
Meals |
 |
|
|
|
| |
The conference fee includes all meals,
beginning with a breakfast Friday, February
20 and concluding with a breakfast Sunday,
February 22. Because the conference
formally begins at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday,
February 19, you will be on your own
for dinner Thursday. The Broadmoor features
many
cafes and restaurants with different
styles and price ranges. Other
restaurants are located nearby.
Because meeting deadlines is a key trait
of a professional writer, all sessions
and meals will begin promptly at the
scheduled time. If you are late you
may miss a portion of the meal.
